Dance party songs

Each party is different and if you happen to be the host, you need to set up the event properly and make sure that your guests will have a great time. In some cases, parties involve watching a couple of movies, listening to music in the background and simply chatting with your friends. However, there are plenty of occasions when people would like to dance. If you are in charge of the music, you should make sure that your guests will be able to do this without struggling to find the right rhythm.

There are a couple of dance songs out there which will fit perfectly into your party, but you have to figure out what type of dance will people be interested in. Nowadays, most parties will involve dancing to house, hip hop, R&B or rock music. You can also pick a couple of songs which have a predefined dance which is known by everyone: YMCA, Can’t Touch This or Beat it.

Because couples will most likely attend your party, you also have to take a look at a few songs which are great for couple dancing. Some of the best songs for this scenario are: Nelly – Dilemma, Smooth – Santana, Twist and Shout, My Heart Will Go On, Everything I do by Brian Adams, Unchained Melody and even Show me the meaning of being lonely by the Backstreet Boys. You shouldn’t be surprised by the fact that some of these songs are quite old. Picking new songs for your party might not always be a great idea. People usually want to hear and dance to songs which they already know and parties aren’t the right place to try out new songs because some people might not like them. Instead, you should go for party songs which are already known to be great and everyone will have a good time.

A party will usually last for at least 4 hours and people won’t dance continuously. You can think of a few songs for filling in the gaps and these specific tunes shouldn’t be dance songs. Because each person will probably dance only to their specific style, you should think about making a diverse playlist.

You can organize the entire party in a few groups: 60’s music, 70’s music, 80’s music, 90’s music, hip hop dance, romantic dance and rock and roll. If you find 4 or 5 songs for each category, you will surely please everyone and you can even add a few great songs which are not part of your list.

In the end, here are some of the songs which should be part of your party if you want people to dance: Respect – Arithea Franklin, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Walk This Way – Aerosmith, Ice Ice Baby, Push It, Locamotion and Macarena.

Besides your regular playlist, you can also ask people to bring some of their favourite CD’s or come up with a few suggestions of their own. This is a good way to make sure that everyone will be happy with the result.
